Jaime Gili

In September 2024 I spent a few hours filming Jaime Gili in his studio in London. He is a Venezuelan painter, and a friend.

He told me the strange anecdote about Gio Ponti lecturing Armando Reverón, in the fifties, on the proper way to build houses in the tropics. And about the compasses in his father’s toolbox, off limits to him as a boy, but not anymore. And about turning his paintings to face the wall, like a child punished in class.
